2019 Hyundai Tucson MPG Review

If you are anywhere near Chalfont, Warminster, or Doylestown and in the market for a new vehicle, a crossover SUV is a popular choice for many reasons. The crossover SUV strikes a great balance between the function and utility of an SUV, and the economy and drivability of a sedan. Many people consider owning a crossover SUV because they have good fuel economy.

The Hyundai Tucson is a magnificent crossover SUV. You have the choice of six trim levels, which give you a variety of style, utility, technology, and performance options. Fuel economy is a strong suit of the 2019 Tucson. All of the Tucson's trims have great EPA-estimated MPG ratings, each achieving an average well over the 20 MPG mark.

Powertrains

The most significant factor on the fuel economy of each trim is the engine. The 2019 Tucson has two engines available: the 2.0-liter GDI 4-cylinder engine or the 2.4-liter GDI 4-cylinder engine. The 2.0 liter will give you 161 horsepower, while a 2.4-liter outputs 181 horsepower. Many crossover SUVs offer a 4-cylinder engine over V6 because it impacts fuel economy so significantly. 4-cylinder engines are known for being less powerful, but you won't be disappointed with the acceleration and 130 MPH top speed of the 2019 Hyundai Tucson.

Fuel Economy

Let's first lay out the fuel economy of each trim, and then look into the variations. The SE gets an EPA-estimated 23 city miles per gallon and 30 highway miles per gallon. The Value gets the same as the SE, an EPA-estimated 23 city MPG and 30 highway MPG. The SEL gets a comfortable EPA-estimated 22 city miles per gallon and 28 highway miles per gallon. The Sport trim gets the same as the SEL, with an EPA-estimated 22 city MPG and 28 highway MPG. The Limited and the Ultimate each get the same EPA-estimated MPG as the SEL and the Sport trims.

The similarity in gas mileage between the trims is because the SE and Value both have the 161 horsepower 2.0-liter engine. Then, the SEL, the Sport, the Limited, and the Ultimate all have the 181 horsepower 2.4-liter engine. Both are great, fuel-efficient motors. All Tucson trims are available as front-wheel drive.

Available Features

The included technologies are a strong suit of the 2019 Tucson. The lowest trim level, the SE, comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen. Higher trim levels increase the touchscreen size and gadgetry, but to include it in the base model is fantastic for Hyundai to do.

In addition to the touchscreen, the SE comes with the desirable Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. The style and available features increase with each trim. The Value adds Blind-Spot Collision Warning and Bluetooth® connectivity. The SEL then adds eye-catching 18-inch alloy wheels and USB ports for the back row.

The Sport gives away its design in its name, with sporty 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, and a hands-free rear lift gate, which is probably so you can easily open up the rear lift gate to toss in a surfboard or golf bag. The Limited steps up the luxury game with leather seats and wireless charging. Highest of the trims, the Ultimate increases the touchscreen size and has some great safety features, such as Pedestrian Detection and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assistant.
